The Vivienne top lace crochet pattern is a size inclusive crochet garment pattern for a short sleeved lace layering piece that showcases the v-stitch. This lace top is great for casual wear and layering. The top is worked in one piece from the waist up and can be made in long or cropped (pictured) length. The square neckline and thick waistband flatter a range of shapes. Available in sizes 36" - 52".
The top is worked in the round until armhole shaping, where it is divided for front and back. Front and back are worked flat and then rejoined at shoulder seams. Sleeves are then worked in the round from the armhole edge.
The v stitch is a simple but timeless stitch pattern creating a vintage glam look on a modernly sized piece. We have a handy blog post tutorial of how to do this stitch. Just click to see the tutorial! You can also learn how to do the effective crochet ribbing in the same blog post.
The pattern is written in US terms.
Please check gauge to ensure success.
Gauge:
5 V-sts across and 8 rounds up measures 4in (10cm) square, laid flat and unstretched after blocking
2 rounds of V-sts measures 1in (2.5cm)
Sizes: 36”-52” chest.
The finished chest circumference is measured with the top laid flat and unstretched. Because of the openness of the fabric, the top stretches widthways when worn.
Sample shown: cropped version in size 2 on a mannequin with a 40in (102cm) chest.
This design calls for Cygnet pure wool DK which is available . Although the yarn says DK, it feels closer to worsted. Please bear this in mind when selecting an alternative.
